Haifa Abd al-Hakeem is a Palestinian nurse and community historian. She grew up Jordanian refugee camps before moving to Palestine in 1995. After getting married her Trinidadian husband and moving to England in 2006, she developed an interest in documenting the history, culture and life experiences of Muslims from the Caribbean. Haifa and her family will be working with the MIAH team to raise awareness of the history of Black Muslims in the UK, with a particular focus on the experiences of Caribbean Muslims.
