Join us at the MIAH Gallery on Saturday 14th June, from 9:30am to 1:00pm, for the fifth and final workshop in our Arts of the Book: Decoration & Illumination course. Whether you are new to Islamic art or looking to deepen your practice, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to engage with its rich visual language in a relaxed and supportive setting.

A Shamsa (literally meaning the sun), is an intricately decorated rosette that was used to adorn the opening pages of traditional manuscripts and folios. It was painted with bright colours and was enriched with a variety of different motifs.

During the session, you will use a template to draw and paint a Shamsa using geometric principles and traditional techniques. You will have the chance to add further ornaments (Sharafe) to complete the composition.

Standard Workshop Fee: £25, including Eventbrite fees.

Suitable for ages 18+; all materials will be provided; no prior experience is necessary. Spaces are limited, so early booking is recommended to secure your place.
